Looking for some useful advice when it comes to maintaining your machining centre? We’ve asked our specialised technician, Riccardo, to share his hints and tips with you…
"First of all, it is important to stress the importance of cleaning the machine at the end of every production day. But, in order to maintain optimal performance and longevity, there are serval other maintenance checks that should be carried out, too:
- the daily unloading of electro-spindle cones inside the warehouse;
- regular lubrication of all moving parts of the machine’s axes;
- the lubrication of the warehouse cones for the electro-spindle. The frequency this needs to be carried out caries depending on the production but in general, it is recommended that this should be completed at least once a month in order to avoid oxidation inside the component;
- checking the wear of the vacuum pump vanes, based on the times indicated in the machine’s manual. It’s also equally as important to disassemble, clean and reassemble the pump filters at least once a month to avoid vacuum leakage on the suction cups;
- and finally, it’s important to regularly lubricate the boring head but remember, you should always follow the instructions and times indicated in your machinery manual."
