Used Edgebander for sale in the USA
An edge banding machine is an industrial machine used in the furniture industry for applying a decorative edge to chipboard or MDF panels. These edges can be thin melamine or PVC, thick PVC and ABS, coiled veneers, strip laminates or strips of solid wood.

They can be divided into edge banding machines for straight panel profiles or for post-formed or soft formed profiles. The machine is a through feed machine with a track and roller system to transport the panel through the various processing and trimming units required by different application processes.

Edgebanding machines can be single-sided (i.e. they apply the edge on just one side of the panel at each passing) or double-sided (i.e. they apply the edge on both sides of the panel at the same time). In this category, Ferwood offers used or reconditioned high precision and performance second-hand edge bander machines.

An Edge Bander can also be used to apply timber lippings for veneered furniture, internal house doors and fire doors. Softforming Edgebanders profile and apply a decorative edge to MFC and MDF while Postforming machines bend, bond and trim laminate.

Edgebanding machine types range from small edging machines with slow feed speeds to high performance edge bander lines for high volume production.

An Edgebander machine is a series of processing units on a frame with the workpiece passing on a track and each unit performing the allotted task. Typically, the units would be: Sizing, Squaring or Premilling.

Sizing, Squaring: This unit sizes and squares a preset amount off the panel to provide a perfect edge to arrive at the glueing station.

Premilling: This unit trims a preset amount of the panel to provide a perfect edge to arrive at the glueing station.

Glue Station: The glue application process is to apply glue to the exposed edge of the passing panel. Glue weights and thickness can be controlled depending on the adhesive being applied. On most machines, this is by use of a glue dosing roller fed by a glue pot. The Gluepot is often fed by a premelting unit. There are exceptions when slot nozzles are used instead. The edging meets the panel and is pressed on by the pressure rollers and the coil is cut to approximate length.

There are four gluing types for edgebanding including Hotmelt EVA, PUR, Hot Air and Laser.

End Trimming Unit: Trims the length of the edge to exactly fit the panel length.

Top and Bottom, Multifunction and Corner Rounding trimming units: Remove the excess tape and if required profile the edging in both the horizontal and vertical edge by corner rounding.

Radius scraping units: perfect the PVC and ABS thick edges and remove the cutter marks left by the trimming function.

Glue Scrapers: Remove any residual glue excess

Buffing Units: Polish the PVC edges.

Some machines feature Universal trimming units for profiling or grooving or Belt Sanding units. Many machines have Anti Adhesive Spray devices to make panel cleaning easier.

Depending on the size of the machine Edgebanders run at between 10 and 80 m/min unless they are being fed and offloaded automatically.
